Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Luteinizing Hormone (LH), Prolactin, and Testosterone Total and %Free
WHAT DOES THIS TEST MEANS TO ME?
This panel test is used to determine if a hormonal cause is leading to erectile problems or impotence. The FSH and LH hormones are important for promoting proper testicle formation and sex steroid production. Additionally, a low FSH level can affect sperm production. Testosterone drops with age. Measuring both the Total and Free testosterone levels will make sure that there is enough testosterone at the tissue level for use by the body in addition to having enough overall. Prolactin is considered the principal hormone in sexual gratification and elevated levels can cause infertility.
